About Us
Established in 1982, Fiberoptic Systems, Inc. (FSI) has refined the art of fiber drawing and bundling. FSI is the only fiber optics manufacturer on the West Coast that produces its own high transmission glass fiber for the whitest brightest light possible.
Facilities - In response to the growing needs of the marketplace, FSI moved to an expanded manufacturing facility in 2000. The facility houses corporate, sales and marketing, and all production disciplines. Our expanded optical fiber manufacturing enables us to respond faster and to a greater number of applications. This results in greater manufacturing efficiencies, provides a broader manufacturing base, and strengthens our customer relationships.
Our state-of-the-art fiber optic drawing tower is capable of producing more than 1,000 miles of optical fiber per eight hour shift. Multiple glass preforms are drawn together at a fiber feed rate of approximately 75 feet per second to produce glass fibers in bundles of various sizes as needed to meet production requirements.
Quality - FSI earned it's California Device Manufacturing License (#50004) in 2009. The basis for the issuance of a California device manufacturing license is compliance with the applicable 21 CFR regulations including but not limited to Part 820 (Quality System Regulation). A pre-inspection by the Food & Drug Branch of the CA Dept of Public Health is required before a license will be granted.
The (federal) US FDA Establishment Registration process does not require a pre-inspection - just money, an address and contact information. This puts the firm on FDA's radar which means they are subject to FDA's establishment inspection program. Both systems/programs are similar in that, by statute, the agencies are required to perform biennial inspections. The main difference is that US FDA does not require an inspection at time zero and does not issue a license; they just acknowledge the registration on their website.
All parts are inspected upon receipt. All assemblies are inspected prior to shipping. All pertinent lot numbers are recorded. Our Quality Manual is available upon request.
